Instruction Shore Power

Shore power is available at most river cruise berths in Amsterdam and Zaanstad.

Using shore power contributes to a cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable port.
By connecting vessels to shore power, the use of onboard generators is reduced, helping to lower emissions in the city.

How Does Shore Power Work?

To use a shore power connection, you must register as a user once. After registration, you can use participating shore power facilities throughout the Netherlands at the locally applicable rates.
Each shore power connection has a unique four-digit identification number, which allows you to activate electricity or water via the app, website, or by telephone.

Important Safety Instructions

For the safe use of the shore power installation, please observe the following guidelines:

• The installation may only be operated by trained personnel.
• The use of cable adapters is not permitted.
• When connecting: first connect the cable to the vessel, then to the shore power outlet.
• When disconnecting: first disconnect from the shore power outlet, then from the vessel.
• Only one shore power connection may be used per onboard electrical system.
• Use only cables that comply with EN 15869-3.
• Maximum voltage: 400 V / 50 Hz
• Permitted current: 16 A, 32 A or 63 A
• Inspect the shore power cabinet and cable routing before connecting.
• Maximum cable length: 50 metres

Step 1 – Register

Register once via the Shore Power website.After registration, you can immediately use all participating shore power locations throughout the Netherlands.

Step 2 – Activate Shore Power

1. Select your current location.
2. Choose the required service: Electricity or Water.
3. Activate the four-digit connection number using one of the following methods:
   • the Shore Power app;
   • the online portal;
   • by telephone: +31 (0)88 170 7703

Next, connect the power cable to the selected shore power connection.
Once the connection is active, the blue LED ring on the installation will illuminate.

Water Connections

Drinking water connections operate with either a maximum time limit or a maximum number of litres.
Water connections can only be activated via the app or the website.

Step 3 – Disconnect Shore Power

Deactivate the electricity or water supply using the same method that was used to activate the connection.
Important: Disconnecting the cable does not automatically stop the service. Always deactivate the connection via the app, website, or telephone before disconnecting.

Through your personal account you can view:

• Current consumption
• Costs
• Connection status
• Invoices and payment methods

Payment

Payment is processed afterwards using your selected payment method.
Most users choose direct debit. The applicable amount is automatically collected each month, and a digital invoice is sent by email.

• iDEAL
• Credit Card (Mastercard & Visa)
• Sofort
• Bancontact / Mister Cash

Using Shore Power Without Registration

You can also use shore power without registering in advance by activating the connection by telephone and paying directly by credit card.
In this case, you will not receive an invoice and you will not have access to an online account.
